PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Staff Management

Plant Management of a direct mail production facility

Managed a fluctuating work force of up to 625 employees.
Annual mail volume in excess of 200 million pieces.
Work volume increased by 27% during my 5.5 year tenure as Plant Manager.
Absorbed rising wage rates and material costs while keeping production unit costs flat.
Managed an annual operating budget in excess of $4 million coming in under budget every year.

Operations Management

Managed two groups (one for each of the two primary product groups) responsible for communication of job requirements and timing between the Sales/Marketing group and Manufacturing.
Served as liaison between Manufacturing and Sales/Marketing senior management.
Managed the product engineering function responsible for custom job specifications, costing, and pricing.

Liaison to the United States Postal Service

Monitored all pending postage rate cases, classification cases, and proposed changes to preparation rules.
Intervened on behalf of the company in such proposed changes to protect the interests of the company.
Intervened on behalf of the company any time there were issues between the company and the USPS with respect to interpretation of the USPS Domestic Mail Manual.
Dealt with all levels in the USPS from local postal officials, to the USPS National Account Manager assigned to our account, to USPS Headquarters staff in Washington, DC.
Saved the company $3 million dollars per year in postage by redesigning our product and preparation methodologies in accordance with the Postal Reclassification Case of 1996.
Monitored all new USPS products and services to determine applicability to our business, then facilitated implementation of those considered to be applicable and beneficial.
Attended both of the National Postal Forums each year for many years because of their educational value and extremely good networking opportunities.
Carried out these duties with annual mail volumes in excess of 500 million pieces and a postage budget in excess of $70 million.
