PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Manager, Shipping and Receiving

Full-scope logistics, operations and administration responsibility for library shipping and receiving, serving 400 fulltime professional and support staff as well as 200 students. Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate and schedule workflow for six employees.

* Oversee distribution system for mail and library materials within Princeton University's library system, including 50 offices in the Firestone Library and 17 outside libraries. Proven record of timely delivery to the proper destination.

* Devised a computerized logging system and 800-account database for incoming mail, which was used for 8 years. In 1999 implemented commercial Y2K compliant tracking system.

* Transfer and download UPS arrivals and outgoing shipments daily. $60K in mail and ground UPS services annually.

* Direct shipping preparations and packaging for rare books and manuscripts, including special arrangements for highly valuable and irreplaceable items.

* Coordinate special projects, within short deadlines, such as the transportation of 17,000 volumes of books within two months to another library or moving and installing library equipment, including computers and furnishings.

* Consistently maintain accurate records of postal and delivery service charges for appropriate charge backs in 45 separate accounts. Full sign-off authority for postage money transfers in $10K increments for postage meter.

* Develop and enhance daily working relationships with 75 department heads and supervisors, 40 vendors, and Postal Customer Council colleagues.

* Co-facilitated multiple sessions Communication Workshop for Library Managers in March and April 2000. Provide mail seminars annually to update library staff.

Promoted from Distribution Supervisor within two months to oversee inventory control and distribution management for this high-volume, multiple product public distribution center for B2B and consumer products distribution.

* Increased productivity, reduced errors and expedited on-time shipments through the development and implementation of four inventory control systems, as well as responsive, customer-needs based service.

* Administered the storage and distribution of $2M in goods. Coordinated and scheduled workflow through receiving, packaging and shipping. Oversaw 20-40 carrier shipment pick-ups daily, and supervised 10 employees.
